Muslim Community Leader Dialogues with Presidential
Candidate Edwards
CHICAGO - Yesterday, activist and investment banker M.
Ali Khan met in Chicago with Democratic U.S.
presidential hopeful John Edwards for extensive
dialogue. The discussion spanned many issues in the
areas of human rights and civil liberties. The
one-on-one meeting was a great first step in building
a positive relationship between the Muslim community
and the presidential candidate.
In a statement, Mr. Khan, National Director of the
American Muslim Council (AMC), said:
“This was a great meeting for John and I to get to
know each other. The passions and concerns that John
feels for Americans and human beings around the world
made an impact on me. We agreed that our country needs
to regain its leadership on human rights. I look
forward to getting to know John Edwards further.”
AMC is a Chicago-based civil and human rights
organization committed to promoting the involvement of
the American Muslim community in the mainstream social
and political spheres.
